Rajasthan Assembly Passes Inclusive Budget with Major Announcements

The Rajasthan legislative assembly passed the state budget on Monday, with noteworthy announcements by Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma. These include Rs 2 crore concessional rate loans to help the youth set up industries, and reservations for Agniveers in police, forest guards, and jail guards.

Additionally, the Chief Minister relaxed eligibility norms for the Common Entrance Test for state government services. The budget also earmarked funds for buying 1,000 electric buses and Rs 750 crore for the establishment of the Rajasthan Institute of Medical Sciences, modeled after AIIMS, as well as a yearly increase in salaries, allowances, and pensions for MLAs.

The assembly passed the Appropriation Bill-2024 and Finance Bill-2024 via voice vote. Sharma further announced connectivity plans for villages and new initiatives for urban development, while criticizing the previous Congress government for 'financial indiscipline'. The budget, presented by Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Diya Kumari, aims at inclusive development, despite opposition claims of it being directionless.
