Amruta Fadnavis, wife of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, visited the Nakhwa family on Monday, extending her support to the victims of the Worli hit-and-run case in Mumbai. The tragic accident occurred as the couple, who were returning home on a scooter after buying fish, were struck by a luxury car. Both sustained injuries, leading to the death of Kaveri Nakhwa during treatment.
Amruta Fadnavis held a conversation with the deceased's husband, Pradeep Nakhwa, and their children, Amruta and Yash Nakhwa, assuring them of the best possible assistance and care.
On July 16, the accused Mihir Shah was presented before the Sewri court for remand proceedings. Although the police requested further custody for Shah, the court denied it. Shah has been placed in judicial custody until July 30. During the investigation, Shah evaded critical questions, including his reasons for fleeing and whereabouts after the incident.
The defence lawyer argued against further remand, citing that Shah had already shared all pertinent details with the police. Despite the police emphasizing the need for more information, the court ruled against additional custody. Meanwhile, the police have uncovered that Shah was heavily intoxicated on the night of the incident, having consumed alcohol at multiple locations.
Shah was initially arrested in Virar on Tuesday and brought to Sewri Court in Mumbai the following Wednesday. The police formed fourteen teams to apprehend him and also detained Rajrishi Singh Bidawat and Shah's father, Rajesh Shah, for their alleged involvement. Reports state that the luxury vehicle involved belonged to a political leader from Palghar, Maharashtra.
