The accident occurred at approximately 3:45 am. Prompt action saw Accident Relief Medical Equipment (ARME), along with the Additional Divisional Railway Managers (ADRM) from Chakradharpur Railway Station, swiftly reaching the site to manage the situation.
The Indian Railways reported, 'Train No. 12810 Howarah-CSMT Express derailed between Rajkharswan West Outer and Barabamboo in Chakradharpur division.' According to the PRO of Chakradharpur division, six passengers sustained injuries, five of whom had minor injuries, while one required hospitalization. Initial medical aid has been administered by the railway medical team, and relief and rescue operations are ongoing at the site.
Following the derailment, Indian Railways has issued multiple helpline numbers for affected passengers and their families, including contacts for Tatanagar, Chakradharpur, Rourkela, Howrah, Ranchi, and Mumbai.
