Vice President Backs RSS, Lauds Contribution to National Welfare Amid Controversy

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar vocally supported the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), emphasizing its dedication to national welfare and its constitutional right to participate in nation-building efforts, while addressing the Rajya Sabha. His remarks followed the lifting of a ban on government employees' participation in RSS activities, a move criticized by opposition leaders like Shashi Tharoor.

Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar expressed strong support for the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on Wednesday, highlighting its contributions to national welfare. Dhankhar stated that the RSS consists of individuals dedicated to selfless national service, urging everyone to take pride in such organizations.

Addressing the Rajya Sabha, Dhankhar declared, "I hereby rule that RSS is an organization with full Constitutional rights to participate in the development journey of this nation. This organization has unimpeachable credentials, comprised of people deeply committed to serving the nation selflessly." He deemed it unconstitutional to bar members of such organizations from contributing to national development.

The Vice President's remarks came after the central government lifted a ban on government employees' participation in RSS activities, a decision that has sparked controversy. Congress MP Shashi Tharoor criticized the move, calling it "very strange" and arguing that government employees should remain neutral while in service. "After retiring, you can do whatever you want, but when you are in the government, you should remain neutral," Tharoor contended.
