UP Government Mandates Uninterrupted Power Supply Amid Hot Weather

The Uttar Pradesh government has instructed all power distribution companies to ensure an uninterrupted power supply in the state due to hot and humid weather. The policy includes compensating for power cuts with additional electricity and applying the same to agricultural feeders. Laxity in implementation will not be tolerated.

The Uttar Pradesh government has directed all power distribution companies to ensure an uninterrupted power supply across the state to mitigate the effects of the current hot and humid weather conditions.

The managing directors of all discoms are instructed to compensate for any disruptions in scheduled power supply by providing additional electricity during power cut periods as per the roster, according to an official statement.

Minister of Energy and Urban Development, AK Sharma, emphasized that the state’s power supply schedule, which includes 18 hours of power in rural areas, 21.5 hours at tehsil headquarters, and 24 hours at district headquarters, must be strictly adhered to. Any local faults causing interruptions must be compensated during the power cut period. This policy also extends to agricultural feeders to ensure farmers receive adequate power for irrigation. Laxity or negligence in implementing this system will not be tolerated.
