A Janasena Party President Pawan Kalyan fan was arrested in Visakhapatnam after threatening to set himself on fire at a petrol pump, police reported on Thursday. The fan, Simha Chalam, sought to highlight his personal issues and demanded a meeting with Kalyan for resolution.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Narsimha Murthy revealed that Chalam arrived at the Simhachalam petrol pump with a gas cylinder and lighter on Wednesday, intending to self-immolate if his demands were unmet. 'Simha Chalam came to the petrol pump with a gas cylinder and lighter, threatening to set himself ablaze if his issues were not resolved. The petrol pump staff and security personnel intervened and prevented him from carrying out his threat on Wednesday evening,' said ACP Murthy.

Following the intervention of petrol pump staff and security, the police were called, leading to Chalam's detention. A case has been registered against him under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for attempting self-harm and causing a public disturbance. (ANI)
