Patna Steps Up Safety Checks: 15-Day Inspection of Coaching Centres

Patna’s Sub-Divisional Magistrate has launched a 15-day investigation into the safety standards of coaching centres following a tragic incident in Delhi. Measures include fire safety, registration checks, and emergency provisions. The crackdown follows an order from the Patna District Magistrate as a result of three aspirant deaths due to flooding.

Patna's Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Shrikant Khandekar announced a comprehensive 15-day investigation into the safety standards of all coaching centres in the district. This effort follows directives from the district magistrate and comes in the wake of a tragic incident in Delhi that resulted in the deaths of three civil service aspirants.

The inspection will scrutinize fire safety norms, registration, entry and exit gates, and other safety protocols. According to SDM Khandekar, centres found lacking in standards will be given one month to comply. 'We are checking fire NOC, registration, in-out gates and other safety standards. We have 15 days to investigate and submit the report,' he told ANI.

The directive stems from a distressing incident on July 27, when heavy rain led to the deaths of three aspirants at Rau's IAS campus due to flooding and a compromised biometric entry-exit system. Municipal Corporation of Delhi Commissioner Ashwani Kumar has since ordered measures to prevent basement misuse, separate entry and exit gates, and ensure the clearance of waterlogging and hanging wires.
