Devotees Flock to Uttar Pradesh Temples for Saawan Shivratri Celebrations

On Saawan Shivratri, devotees in Uttar Pradesh thronged to Lord Shiva temples, including Augharnath in Meerut. Pilgrims sought blessings and participated in the Kanwar Yatra procession. Authorities ensured proper facilities and safety measures for the large crowds.

On the occasion of Saawan Shivratri, devotees in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, flocked to the Augharnath Temple to offer prayers. Pilgrims also visited Lord Shiva temples across the state, including locations in Moradabad, Ayodhya, Prayagraj, and Ghaziabad, seeking blessings. One devotee told ANI, "A large number of devotees gather here, and the temple administration should provide the necessary facilities."

In Moradabad, devotees thronged to Shiva temple for 'Sawan Shivratri' prayers. Police authorities ensured that facilities for the devotees were in place. Satpal Antil, SSP Moradabad, said, "Keeping in view of the Shivratri Sawan, all arrangements have been checked. Arrangements for electricity and sanitation have been completed. Senior officials have given a tour of the city, providing directions to improve conditions and ensure everything is done safely."

Meanwhile, devotees took a holy dip at the Saryu River in Ayodhya and offered prayers at Nageshwarnath Temple. In Prayagraj, prayers were offered at Mankameshwar Temple. In Ghaziabad, devotees lined up to enter Dudheshwar Nath Temple. Sawan Shivratri, a major Hindu festival, marks the union of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Celebrated on the 14th day of the lunar month, it typically falls between July and August and involves worship, fasting, and pilgrimage.

The Kanwar Yatra procession saw Kanwariyas collecting river water and carrying it hundreds of kilometers to offer it at Shiva shrines. The pilgrimage, which started on July 22, concludes on Shivratri on August 2. (ANI)
