A suspect has been detained in Navi Mumbai regarding the alleged attack on Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Jitendra Awhad's car, officials disclosed on Friday. 'Dongri Police has detained a person from Navi Mumbai in connection with the attack on Jitendra Awhad's car,' the police officials confirmed.

The Dongri police have registered a case against Dhananjay Jadhav, Swarajya Sanghatana's general secretary, and Ankrish Kadam. Charges include Sections 109 (attempt to murder), 126 (2) (wrongful restraint), 189 (1), 189 (2), 180 (4), and 190 (association for an unlawful assembly with common object) under the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, 2023.

The investigation is ongoing. In reaction to the event, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut questioned Maharashtra's law and order. 'Two MLAs, one from the ruling party and another from the opposition, were attacked. Where is the law and order in this state?' Raut criticized. He added that during Uddhav Thackeray's regime, the state's law and order were stable and continued to blame external political influences for the current state of affairs.
