Day-to-day activities were significantly disrupted in Vapi, Valsad, on Saturday morning due to severe waterlogging following heavy overnight rain. Recent downpours have wreaked havoc across Gujarat, causing widespread flooding and water-logged areas.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) previously warned on August 2 about the likelihood of rain and thundershowers persisting for the next five days in various parts of Gujarat. Heavy rainfall was forecast at isolated locations, including Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Mahisagar, Chhota Udaipur, Narmada, Bharuch, Dang, and Tapi, in addition to the Kutch district for August 2.

Moreover, the IMD anticipated heavy to very heavy rain across Gujarat on August 3, impacting regions such as Surat, Navsari, Valsad, Daman, Dadra Nagar Haveli, Narmada, Bharuch, Dang, Tapi, Amreli, and Bhavnagar. This forecast followed intense rainfall that resulted in severe waterlogging in Navsari, necessitating intervention by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to evacuate residents.

In Navsari, the NDRF teams successfully evacuated individuals stranded in inundated areas. They rescued five people, including a child and an ailing woman, from Mithila Nagari. A total of 30 residents were saved from the flood-affected zones. Navsari Municipality promptly prepared 20,000 food packets for those trapped by the floods. Additionally, Gujarat Health Minister Rushikesh Patel inspected the flood-affected regions in Borsas, Anand district.
