Government's Contradictory Approach to Renewable Energy Policy Criticized

On Tuesday, CPI Rajya Sabha member Sandosh Kumar P criticized the government's 'contradictory approach' towards promoting renewable energy, suggesting that its power policy could be influenced by Adani Group.

During a discussion on the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) in the Rajya Sabha, Kumar voiced concerns over the simultaneous promotion of both renewable and conventional energy, citing the recent addition of coal plant capacity.

Fauzia Khan from NCP highlighted the inefficacy of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, while Haris Beeran and M Thambidurai called for enhanced government support and the exploration of wind energy potential, respectively.
