On Tuesday, the state-owned Powergrid announced that the Ugandan government had commissioned a power transmission project where it served as the consultancy provider.

Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and Vice President Jessica Alupo inaugurated the project, with Powergrid acting as the Project Management Consultant (PMC), according to an exchange filing.

Powergrid's Director (Personnel) Yatindra Dwivedi and Head (International Business) Sanjay Kumar Gupta represented the company at the commissioning ceremony in Uganda, the filing stated.

During the ceremony, Powergrid also revealed that it managed the construction of the 132 kV Kole-Gulu-Olwiyo-Nebbi-Arua dual circuit transmission line, which spans 289 kilometers and includes river crossings on the White Nile. This project integrates the West Nile region with Uganda's National Grid, fostering national growth.

Under the Ministry of Power, Powergrid has a presence in 23 countries. As of July 31, the company's and its subsidiaries' total transmission assets include 177,790 ckm of transmission lines, 278 substations, and a transformation capacity of 532,446 MVA, maintaining a system availability of 99.81 per cent.
