Ambedkarite Organizations Protest Against Dalit Atrocities in Latur

Members of several Ambedkarite organizations commenced a three-day 'dharna' on Tuesday in Latur, Maharashtra, to protest the alleged increase in atrocities against Dalits in the district. The protest is taking place at Gandhi Chowk in the city.

According to these organizations, which follow the ideals of social reformer B R Ambedkar, there has been a significant rise in such incidents in recent months. Police have already filed cases related to some of these events, including the death of a Class 7 student at a hostel in Latur's MIDC area.

The protesters are demanding that cases be registered under IPC section 302 (murder) and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. They also seek a CID investigation into all incidents, the arrest of the accused, and their trial in fast-track courts.
