NIA Probes 19 Cases in West Bengal, Reveals Minister Nityanand Rai

Union Minister for State Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai, disclosed during a Rajya Sabha session on Wednesday that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is currently probing 19 cases in West Bengal, in response to a query from BJP MP Samik Bhattacharya.
Rai revealed that 11 of these cases are under active investigation without any charge sheets filed so far, while 8 cases have been charge-sheeted and are undergoing further investigation. He emphasized the resources allocated to the NIA, noting that the agency's Kolkata branch has 81 sanctioned posts across various ranks.
The minister further explained that the staff strength is regularly assessed, and when necessary, personnel from other NIA branches are reassigned to support the Kolkata office in handling the increased workload. (ANI)
