Saudi Arabia Condemns Assassination of Hamas Leader in Tehran

Saudi Arabia denounced the killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, calling it a blatant violation of Iran's sovereignty. The statement from Saudi deputy foreign minister Waleed Al-Khuraiji came during an OIC meeting, stressing the kingdom's stance against any interference in the sovereignty of states.

Saudi Arabia condemned the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, labeling it a "blatant violation" of Iran's sovereignty. The comment was made by Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister Waleed Al-Khuraiji during an extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Al-Khuraiji's statement marks the kingdom's first response to the killing of the Palestinian Islamist leader in the Iranian capital on July 31. As one of the region's major powers alongside Iran, Saudi Arabia's stance is significant.

"Saudi Arabia rejects any violation of the sovereignty of states or interference in the internal affairs of any country," added Al-Khuraiji, emphasizing the kingdom's position on respecting national sovereignty.
