Telangana CM Collaborates with World Bank to Forge Progressive Partnership

During his visit to the United States, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy met with World Bank President Ajay Banga to discuss a strategic roadmap for collaborative projects, according to a statement from the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) on Wednesday. Potential areas of partnership under consideration include skills development, urban rejuvenation, and healthcare initiatives.

In a meeting lasting over an hour, Chief Minister Reddy and the World Bank President agreed to establish a cross-functional team to conceptualize feasible projects. Topics of discussion included sustainability, health, job creation, and environmental concerns. The World Bank's involvement is expected to significantly enhance key visions such as the Musi River rejuvenation project and the development of Hyderabad 4.0, the CMO reported.

The CMO highlighted the World Bank’s optimism and satisfaction with Chief Minister Reddy's balanced vision for Telangana, noting their prior successes in the region. Ajay Banga expressed a strong interest in supporting initiatives like the creation of a Net Zero city. Chief Minister Reddy pledged to ensure each project is pursued with the highest transparency and effectiveness.

This marks the first instance of Telangana engaging with the Bretton Woods institutions. Key officials, including IT Minister D Sridhar Babu and Chief Secretary A Shanta Kumari, provided an overview of ongoing developments in the state. World Bank Executive Director Parameswaran Iyer praised the Telangana government’s sustainable and impactful approach.
