Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan on Friday demanded an apology from Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar after a heated verbal altercation concerning BJP MP Ghanshyam Tiwari's comments about Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge. Bachchan criticized the chairman's tone, asserting that parliamentary members, especially senior ones, deserve respect.

"How can you do this? You have to allow the Leader of the Opposition to speak...I mean using unparliamentary words every time which I do not want to say in front of you all. He uses words like nuisance, 'Buddhiheen'" said Bachchan. She further emphasized her right to speak as a seasoned MP, stating, "This is my fifth term. I know what I am saying."

In support, Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi highlighted Bachchan's extensive experience, while TMC MP Dola Sen asserted Bachchan's elected position in Parliament. The episode prompted a walkout by Opposition members and a rebuke from Leader of House JP Nadda, who deemed the conduct improper. A recent humorous exchange involving Bachchan and Dhankhar over name references also added a lighter note to the ongoing tensions.
