HD Kumaraswamy Champions Farmers Amidst MUDA Scam Controversy

Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy participated in paddy planting with farmers in Mandya, following his Mysuru Chalo Padayatra addressing the MUDA scam. Despite good rains and farmer optimism, Kumaraswamy expressed disappointment over not receiving the Agriculture portfolio. Political tensions rise with BJP-JD(S)'s demands for CM Siddaramaiah's resignation.

HD Kumaraswamy, Union Minister and JDS leader, recently wrapped up the 10-day Mysuru Chalo Padayatra concerning the MUDA scam. Shortly after, he joined farmers in Mandya's Sithapur village for paddy planting, expressing delight over the abundant rains benefiting agricultural activities. Kumaraswamy participated alongside farmer Lakshman in Pandavapura taluk, reiterating his familial connection with the farming community.

'This event feels like being with family,' said Kumaraswamy. 'Farmers are my family, and joining them in this year's cultivation is an immensely joyous occasion for me. The farmers are genuinely happy with my involvement.'

Kumaraswamy noted the unfortunate impact of last year's insufficient rainfall on farmers. 'My background is deeply rooted in farming, just like HD Deve Gowda,' he remarked. He also voiced his disappointment over not securing the Agriculture portfolio in the Union Cabinet, yet expressed confidence in Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's capabilities to address farmers' concerns.

On the political front, Kumaraswamy reiterated the collaborative efforts of the Janata Dal (Secular) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to remove the current government led by CM Siddaramaiah. This follows allegations of Siddaramaiah's involvement in the Valmiki Corporation and MUDA scams, leading to the recent Mysuru Chalo Padayatra. The Congress party has countered these allegations with the 'Jan Andolan Yatra.'

Amidst ongoing controversies, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah accused the BJP and JD(S) of fabricating allegations to destabilize the government after their Operation Kamala initiative failed. A complaint filed by activist Snehamayi Krishna alleges that Siddaramaiah and several others forged documents to claim compensation from the Mysuru Urban Development Authority, prompting the BJP to demand the return of land to the Dalit community.
