C.R. Paatil Launches Upgraded FloodWatch India App with Enhanced Features

Developed by the Central Water Commission (CWC), the app aims to enhance public access to flood information and forecasts.

Union Minister for Jal Shakti, Shri C.R. Paatil, today launched Version 2.0 of the 'FloodWatch India' mobile application in New Delhi. Developed by the Central Water Commission (CWC), the app aims to enhance public access to flood information and forecasts.

The original version of the FloodWatch India app, introduced on August 17, 2023, provided flood forecasts for 200 stations. The upgraded Version 2.0 expands this coverage significantly, now offering real-time flood information from 592 monitoring stations across the country, an increase of 392 stations. Additionally, the new version includes data on the storage positions of 150 major reservoirs, aiding users in understanding potential flood risks in downstream areas.

FloodWatch India uses advanced technologies such as satellite data analysis, mathematical modeling, and real-time monitoring to deliver accurate flood forecasts. The app is designed to be user-friendly, offering information in both English and Hindi, with options for readable and audio formats. It allows users to check flood conditions at the nearest monitoring station directly from the home page.

The app is available for free download on both Android and iOS devices from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, respectively.

The launch event was attended by several dignitaries, including Secretary for Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation, Ms. Debashree Mukherjee, and Chairman of the Central Water Commission, Shri Kushvinder Vohra, along with senior officials from the Ministry of Jal Shakti and the CWC.
