Madhya Pradesh Rajya Sabha Elections: Nomination Process To Begin Tomorrow

Madhya Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Anupam Rajan announced that the Rajya Sabha nomination process starts on August 14, with August 21 as the final submission date. The Election Commission of India issued a notification for the elections to be held on September 3, with results the same day.

The nomination process for Rajya Sabha elections in Madhya Pradesh will commence on August 14, as announced by Madhya Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Anupam Rajan on Tuesday. The last date for submission of nomination papers is set for August 21. A notification regarding the elections was issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI) on August 7.

According to Rajan, scrutiny of the nomination papers will take place on August 22, and candidates can withdraw their nominations up until August 26. The polling is scheduled for September 3, from 9 am to 4 pm, with the counting of votes to be completed on the same day.

The ECI has declared elections for 12 vacant Rajya Sabha seats across nine states, including two seats each in Assam, Bihar, and Maharashtra, and one seat each in Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tripura, Telangana, and Odisha. The withdrawal deadlines for candidates vary slightly among the states, with the latest date being August 27. Notably, one Rajya Sabha seat in Madhya Pradesh became vacant following the election of Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia to the Lok Sabha from Guna constituency in the recent 2024 general elections.
