Union Home Ministry Announces Independence Day Gallantry Awards
The Union Home Ministry has revealed the names of 1,037 personnel who will receive gallantry and service medals on Independence Day. The honors include the President's Medal for Gallantry and Medal for Gallantry awarded for exceptional bravery and service in various actions, including crime prevention and arrest.

The Union Home Ministry on Wednesday disclosed the names of 1,037 police, fire service members, home guards, civil defense personnel, and correctional services staff set to be honored with gallantry and service medals for Independence Day. These awards recognize extraordinary bravery and service in crucial duties.
Amongst the awardees, Head Constable Chaduvu Yadaiah of Telangana Police will receive the President's Medal for Gallantry (PMG) for his heroic actions during a robbery incident on July 25, 2022. Despite sustaining severe injuries during the arrest, Yadaiah's bravery led to the apprehension of two armed criminals.
Out of the 213 Medals for Gallantry awarded, 208 were to police personnel from various states and forces, including the CRPF and CISF. Additional honors include President's Medals for Distinguished and Meritorious Service, recognizing exceptional service records across police, fire, civil defense, and correctional services.
