Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced on Friday the government's plans to provide increased financial assistance to women under the Ladki Behen Yojana and other schemes to promote independence and self-reliance among women. Speaking to the media, CM Shinde emphasized the government's commitment to depositing money directly into women's accounts, stating, "Today, they have arrived in large numbers, and I want to assure them that we will not only give them Rs 1500 but also make them independent and self-reliant."
Shinde referred to the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for empowering women and providing them with financial independence and self-respect. The Ladki Behen Yojana aims to offer Rs 1500 per month to women aged 21-65 with an annual income of less than Rs 2.5 lakh. Additionally, initiatives for elderly women include the "Vay Shree" scheme and a 50% travel concession on state roadways buses.
Earlier, on August 11, Shinde noted that the Ladki Behen Yojana had shaken opposition leaders, assuring that the scheme is not temporary and will continue indefinitely. He warned the state's "Ladli Behnas" (beloved sisters) to be cautious of their "step-brothers" who may become more anxious as the scheme progresses.
