Nepal Reaches New Milestone with Power Export to India

Nepal is set to export nearly 1,000 megawatts of electricity to India, marking a significant milestone in bilateral relations. The matter was discussed during talks between Nepalese External Affairs Minister Arzu Rana Deuba and her Indian counterpart S Jaishankar. Both leaders emphasized enhancing cooperation in trade, connectivity, and infrastructure.

Nepal is poised to export close to 1,000 megawatts of electricity to India, a groundbreaking move described as a 'new milestone' by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. Following comprehensive talks with his Nepalese counterpart Arzu Rana Deuba, the announcement marks a key development in bilateral relations.

The discussions, which took place during Deuba's five-day visit to India, also focused on enhancing cooperation in trade, connectivity, and infrastructure. 'Our Neighbourhood First policy and unique people-to-people & cultural connect propels our relationship forward,' Jaishankar noted on social media platform 'X'.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also welcomed Deuba, emphasizing the close civilizational ties and multifaceted partnership between India and Nepal. The visit signifies a strengthening of age-old bonds and a continued momentum in the two nations' development partnership.
