Karnataka Deputy CM Backs CM Siddaramaiah Amid MUDA Scam Allegations

Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar has publicly backed CM Siddaramaiah amid the MUDA land allotment scam allegations, asserting the CM's innocence and faith in the judiciary. This follows the Karnataka High Court's interim order to halt any further action based on the Governor's sanction until the next hearing.

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar extended his support to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday amid the ongoing MUDA land allotment scam controversy. This comes a day after the Karnataka High Court instructed the trial court not to take any precipitative action against Siddaramaiah based on Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot's sanction, until the next hearing.

"We respect the court; we respect the law of this country. High Court will give us relief. There is nothing wrong with the CM. There is no need for prosecution. The enquiry will be conducted. Let all the papers be submitted there (High Court)," said Shivakumar, expressing his belief in the judicial system.

Siddaramaiah, addressing the allegations, accused them of being politically motivated and emphasized his faith in the judiciary. "As a law-abiding citizen with faith in the Constitution and the judiciary’s power to uphold justice and fairness, I approached the High Court of Karnataka against the illegal and politically motivated decision of the Governor," he stated on social media platform X.

Earlier, Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, representing Siddaramaiah, argued that Governor Gehlot issued the sanction in a brief order without providing merit-based reasoning, and stressed that the Governor is bound by a Cabinet decision in such cases.

The allegations stem from a complaint by social activist Snehamayi Krishna, accusing the Karnataka CM and others of forging documents to claim compensation from the Mysuru Urban Development Authority.
