The Indian Air Force (IAF) on Tuesday initiated extensive relief operations in the flood-stricken areas of Andhra Pradesh's Vijayawada district. According to official statements, the IAF deployed six Mi-17 choppers, along with two Chetak helicopters, to distribute relief materials in the affected regions.
Additionally, 50,000 kg of relief material was airdropped in the NTR District, where unprecedented rainfall in recent days has wreaked havoc. The continuous deluge has severely impacted various parts of the state.
Earlier today, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu urged residents to take whatever actions they can to mitigate the situation. He assured that sufficient food and provisions have been supplied to those affected.
"We have supplied enough food and transportation. Our priority is to reach every person, provide drinking water, and ensure proper sanitation and rehabilitation," Naidu said. He emphasized the importance of community awareness and cooperation.
The Chief Minister noted that the Centre has provided nearly 30 NRDF teams and six helicopters to assist with the relief efforts. Many areas, including Singhnagar and Nandamuri Nagar, were rapidly submerged due to the Budameru floods, compelling nearly two lakh residents to seek refuge on rooftops.
