Kathua District Gears Up for Upcoming Assembly Elections

DEO Rakesh Minhas addressed media representatives about the upcoming election process set to begin on September 5, 2024, with the issuance of notifications for all six assembly segments in the Kathua district. He explained that the nomination process would commence with notifications from Returning Officers (ROs).
Nominations will be accepted from September 5-12, excluding government holidays. Candidates are advised to visit the offices of the respective ROs to submit their nominations in adherence to Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines. The scrutiny of nominations will occur on September 13, with the withdrawal deadline set for September 17.
Minhas provided an overview of Kathua's District Election Profile, detailing the six assembly segments and their 502,978 electors. He assured sufficient security personnel deployment to ensure a safe election environment and highlighted the establishment of 704 polling stations, including 36 tailored for specific groups. The election in Kathua will take place on October 1, 2024, under phase III of the Assembly Elections-2024. Vote counting is scheduled for October 8.
