In response to a series of wolf attacks, the Bahraich district administration has erected shelter homes to safeguard villagers. These shelters have been created by converting previously constructed Panchayat Bhawans.

In Chandpaiya village of Mahasi tehsil, the administration transformed the Panchayat Bhawan into a refuge for villagers lacking homes or with houses featuring wooden doors. These residents, fearing wolf attacks and dealing with dilapidated houses, have taken shelter here.

A local elder recounted, "Our houses are in ruins, forcing us to seek refuge here. A wolf was sighted two nights ago, and last month a woman was attacked." The shelter home supervisor added that provisions for water and sanitation are ample and that MLA and panchayat officials are ensuring residents' well-being.

Meanwhile, a hunt for the remaining 'man-eater' wolves is intensifying. Forest officials use thermal drones and have divided the affected 30-35 km area into four monitored sectors. Coordination among the Forest Department, Police, and District Administration has led to effective night patrols.

Forest Department General Manager Sanjay Pathak confirmed heightened vigilance, with drones capturing four wolves so far. Cameras have been deployed across the area for continuous surveillance.
