Three Fatalities in Odisha Linked to Scrub Typhus, Investigation Underway
Three individuals have succumbed to Scrub Typhus in a private hospital in Odisha's Bargarh. Odisha Public Health Director, Dr. Nilakantha Mishra, has initiated an investigation by dispatching a team to ascertain the details and confirm the test reports.

Three individuals have died due to Scrub Typhus infection at a private hospital in Odisha's Bargarh district, as confirmed by Odisha Public Health Director, Dr. Nilakantha Mishra. Dr. Mishra has instructed the Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) of Bargarh to send a team to investigate the affected areas for further details.
Speaking to ANI, Dr. Mishra revealed that, "We received information that three people died at a private hospital in Bargarh district. I have conversed with CDMO Bargarh, who has sent a team to the hospital to fetch test reports and investigate other potential cases in the area." He emphasized the necessity for the team to verify all clinical reports.
"We need to confirm test findings and all clinical reports, as verifying without confirmed tests is inconclusive," Dr. Mishra stated. He mentioned that a team was dispatched from Bhubaneswar to determine if the deaths were truly caused by Scrub Typhus.
"A team was sent from Bhubaneswar to ascertain whether the fatalities are linked to Scrub Typhus," Dr. Mishra added. He stressed that Scrub Typhus is a treatable disease, advising the significance of early detection and prompt treatment to ensure recovery.
Dr. Mishra urged the public to report to the nearest hospital if they experience fever alongside a tick bite, to receive necessary medications and prevent further spread of the disease.
