Chhattisgarh Government Probes 'School Jatan Yojana' Irregularities

The Chhattisgarh government has initiated a probe to investigate alleged irregularities in the implementation of 'School Jatan Yojana,' a scheme introduced by the previous Bhupesh Baghel-led Congress government for repairing schools. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai stated that the government is awaiting reports to take appropriate action.

Speaking to media after chairing the first day of the Collector-SP Conference in Raipur on Thursday, CM Sai explained that the scheme allocated funds for repairing damaged school buildings or constructing new classrooms. However, reports suggest widespread misuse of these funds, prompting the probe. 'If the scheme had been implemented correctly, we wouldn't see the current state of schools,' he emphasized.

The Collector-SP Conference, a two-day review meeting in Raipur, saw detailed assessments of government schemes. Despite praising the collectors for their efforts, the CM stressed the need for further improvement. Addressing an incident involving a teacher arriving at school in an inebriated state, Sai mentioned swift actions taken against teachers and district education officers for related misconduct.
