JJP Chief Dushyant Chautala's Convoy Attacked Amidst Election Campaign

With elections nearing, strict campaigning guidelines have been enforced. Voting for Haryana's 90 constituencies will occur on October 5. Violations can result in imprisonment or fines.

Former Deputy Chief Minister and Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) Chief Dushyant Chautala's convoy vehicle was attacked on Monday night in Uchana during a road show ahead of the state assembly elections. Officials reported that unknown assailants pelted stones at the vehicle. A police case has been registered and investigations are ongoing.

Election campaigning for the state's 15th legislative assembly elections will end on October 3 at 6 PM. Post this deadline, no political party or candidate will be permitted to hold public meetings or rallies, as per the Election Commission's guidelines.

Furthermore, party workers, leaders, and campaigners, excluding the candidate's election agent, who are not voters in the concerned constituency, will no longer be allowed to stay in that constituency. Voting for all 90 Assembly constituencies in Haryana is scheduled for October 5 from 7 AM to 6 PM.

Haryana Chief Electoral Officer, Pankaj Agarwal, noted that according to Section 126 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, all campaigning must conclude 48 hours before the end of voting. During this blackout period, candidates are prohibited from organising or participating in public meetings or displaying election-related material via any media. Concerts, theater programs, and other entertainment forms aiming to attract the public are also banned. The use of loudspeakers will be prohibited.

Agarwal also stated that no election campaign is allowed within a 200-meter radius of a polling booth. He warned that violating Section 126 (1) could lead to up to two years of imprisonment, fines, or both.
