Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on the occasion of Police Commemoration Day, lauded the bravery and dedication of police personnel across the nation. In a heartfelt post on social media platform X, he recognized the unwavering commitment of the police in ensuring public safety and their commendable efforts during humanitarian crises.

Earlier, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, addressing a gathering of senior officers, retired personnel, and families of police officers, assured the valor and sacrifices of police personnel will not be forgotten. Shah emphasized the significant strides made in combating terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir and vowed to continue efforts against terrorism, drug trafficking, and anti-national activities.

Highlighting the enormous sacrifices, Shah pointed out that 36,468 police personnel have lost their lives for the country's safety over the years, with 216 deaths in the past year alone. Police Commemoration Day, marked annually on October 21 at the National Police Memorial, serves as a somber reminder of police bravery, including the historic sacrifice at Hot Springs, Ladakh, in 1959.
