Enhanced Security and Cleanliness Boost for Old Delhi Markets Ahead of Diwali

BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal convened a significant meeting with Delhi Police and government officials to enhance security measures in the markets of Old Delhi, particularly in the Chandni Chowk constituency he represents.
Speaking to ANI, Khandelwal emphasized the importance of this meeting ahead of Diwali, slated for October 31. Present were senior police officers from the three districts of his constituency, as well as officials from various government departments such as the Public Works Department.
Key discussions focused on improving market security and cleanliness during the festival season. A decision was made to form a coordination committee comprising all relevant departments, tasked with regular monthly meetings. Immediate actions were charted out to start cleaning the markets, organize traffic, and ensure no incidents occur. Khandelwal underlined the unanimous agreement on the crucial need for security, mentioning that additional private security forces might be engaged if necessary.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Traffic North-East, Rajeev Kumar, who attended the meeting, assured ANI of maximum traffic staff deployment to manage traffic effectively and prevent congestion. He highlighted sensitivity towards pollution control, stating that older vehicles are being seized. Kumar reiterated that the traffic department is fully prepared to support MCD or local police if requested.
