The commission paid to petrol pump dealers on the sale of petrol and diesel has been increased significantly. However, retail prices remain unchanged due to intrastate freight rationalisation, which is expected to lead to a drop in prices in several regions such as Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Himachal Pradesh.
The new revision sees a commission hike of 65 paise per litre for petrol and 44 paise for diesel. This adjustment, the first in nearly eight years, aims to assist dealers facing economic hardships. The three main state-owned fuel retailers – IOC, BPCL, and HPCL – announced the changes on social media.
The rationalisation of intrastate tariffs by these firms is expected to decrease price disparities, benefiting consumers, especially in remote locations. The revision garners support from both the Oil Minister and the All India Petroleum Dealers' Association, indicating a positive reception among stakeholders.
