In conventional potato cultivation, the requirement of approximately 2 metric tons of seed potatoes per hectare poses significant logistical and expense challenges, especially in hilly regions. TPS revolutionizes this process, needing only 100 grams of seeds for the same area, effectively circumventing transportation issues and cost barriers.

The method has been championed by experts in Tripura, where it is grown under government-supported projects.
