Gazprom's Gas Suspension Sparks Transit Shift
Gazprom Export has halted gas supplies to Slovakia after terminating a transit agreement with Ukraine, according to Slovak gas importer SPP. To ensure uninterrupted service, SPP will utilize alternative routes primarily from Germany and Hungary, incurring increased transit fees.
Russia's Gazprom Export has announced the suspension of gas supplies to Slovakia after the lapse of a transit deal allowing the passage through Ukraine. The news was confirmed by the leading Slovak gas importer SPP on Wednesday.
In response, SPP assured that it has proactively prepared for the supply halt and will continue to serve its customers through alternate routes. Predominantly, gas will be rerouted using pipelines from Germany and Hungary.
This essential shift, however, comes with the burden of additional transit costs, SPP indicated, as they navigate the logistical adjustments prompted by Gazprom's decision.
