In a significant move, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced on Thursday the creation of 1,746 new posts within the Punjab Police Department.
Addressing the youth via the social media platform X, the Chief Minister shared that applications for these positions will be open from February 21 to March 13. Of the total positions, 1,261 are designated for the district cadre, while the remaining 485 fall under the armed cadre.
Emphasizing the government's commitment to youth employment, CM Mann stated, "Our government aims to create a colourful Punjab where youth play a pivotal role. This vision can only be realized by providing maximum employment opportunities." He added that further government job announcements would follow soon. CM Mann also criticized the opposition Congress leader, Pratap Singh Bajwa, dismissing claims of a rift within the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and defending Punjab's law and order situation as superior to most states.
During discussions with AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, Mann revealed plans to transform Punjab into a model state, leveraging the party's experiences from Delhi. Despite AAP's recent electoral defeat in Delhi, Mann affirmed the party's dedication to welfare work in Punjab.
