In a significant development for the Delhi High Court, Tejas Dhirenbhai Karia officially assumed office as a judge. The oath of office was administered by Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyay during a formal ceremony at the court's premises, attended by the entire bench, bar leaders, advocates, and Karia's family.

The Central government approved Karia's appointment on February 12, 2025, as recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium in August 2024. The Collegium emphasized Karia's expertise in arbitration law, a field requiring specialization due to the volume of cases in Delhi's High Court, signaling him as an invaluable asset.

Karia's legal acumen extends beyond arbitration, with notable experience across civil procedure, evidence, and commercial law. His track record before various high courts and the Supreme Court solidifies his reputation, aligning with the Supreme Court Collegium's assessment of his fit for the high court's demanding role.
