Britain Intensifies Pressure with New Sanctions on Russian Officials

The UK has imposed new sanctions targeting prominent Russian officials, including Pavel Fradkov and Vladimir Selin. This move also affects Artem Chaika and entities tied to Rosatom. The sanctions are aimed at individuals within President Vladimir Putin's inner circle, increasing pressure amidst ongoing geopolitical tensions.

In a significant diplomatic move, Britain announced new sanctions on Friday aimed at key figures within the Russian government. Notably, those targeted include Pavel Fradkov, a deputy minister for defence, and Vladimir Selin, who oversees a sector of Russia's defence ministry.

The foreign office revealed that the sanctions also encompass Artem Chaika, whose extractives enterprise bolsters Russian state-owned activities, in addition to two entities connected to the nuclear energy titan, Rosatom. This measure is intended to impact the 'inner circle' of President Vladimir Putin, echoing the UK's commitment to exerting pressure on Russia.

British Foreign Minister David Lammy emphasized the relentless pressure on President Putin as Ukraine battles for its sovereignty and the broader principle of sovereignty within Europe. As of now, Russia's embassy in London has not issued any response to this development.
