Allegations by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy that a Russian drone damaged the Chornobyl nuclear plant have been refuted by Russia, describing them as a staged 'provocation' to gain Western aid. Despite claims of substantial damage, radiation levels supposedly remain stable.
In a briefing, Maria Zakharova from Russia's Foreign Ministry accused Zelenskiy of timing the alleged attack with the Munich Security Conference, suggesting this is a pattern of 'performances' meant to drum up support for more weapons and financial assistance from the West.
Zakharova condemned the alleged provocation as dangerous, accusing Ukraine of using nuclear threats as a blackmail strategy while stressing that Zelenskiy's actions aim to sway international opinion and secure Western support.
