Tragedy Strikes: Mahakumbh Devotees Killed in Uttar Pradesh Road Accident

President Droupadi Murmu conveyed her condolences following a tragic road accident on Uttar Pradesh's Mirzapur Highway, which claimed the lives of Mahakumbh devotees. The incident, reported on social media platform X, was described by the President as unfortunate. She extended her sympathies to the bereaved families and wished for the swift recovery of the injured individuals.

According to official sources, the accident occurred late Friday night when a car transporting devotees to the ongoing Mahakumbh Mela collided with a bus on the Prayagraj-Mirzapur highway, resulting in ten fatalities. Yamunanagar Deputy Commissioner of Police, Vivek Chandra Yadav, confirmed that the devotees hailed from Chattisgarh and were en route to the Mahakumbh when the tragic collision took place.

The bodies of the deceased were transported to Swaroop Rani Medical Hospital for post-mortem examinations. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath acknowledged the accident and expressed condolences to the affected families. The Chief Minister's Office directed officials to expedite relief efforts, ensuring prompt medical attention for the injured.

In a related incident on February 11, two buses collided on the Yamuna expressway near the Raya cut in Mathura, as per police reports. This accident, involving a bus from Aligarh and another from Badaun, resulted in two deaths and injuries to over 24 passengers. Emergency teams promptly arrived at the scene to facilitate medical assistance for the injured, who were rushed to various hospitals, including the district hospital, for treatment.
