Drone Strike Disrupts Kazakhstan's Oil Pipeline in Russia
A Ukrainian drone strike targeted a pumping station on Kazakhstan's main oil export pipeline in Russia, impacting flows to the Black Sea port of Novorossiisk. The Caspian Pipeline Consortium halted operations at the Kropotkinskaya station in Krasnodar for damage assessment. Ukraine claims the hit facilities support Russia's military activities.
In a strategic military maneuver, a Ukrainian drone strike has impacted a key piece of infrastructure in the energy sector by targeting a pumping station on Kazakhstan’s main oil export pipeline in Russia. Operations to the Black Sea port of Novorossiisk have consequently been curtailed, according to a statement from the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC).
The drone struck the Kropotkinskaya station, located in Russia’s southern Krasnodar region, leading to a suspension of work for damage assessment. This attack marks another instance of Ukrainian drones targeting Russian energy infrastructure, with the SBU security service confirming Kyiv's responsibility and noting the facilities' alleged support for Russia’s military efforts in Ukraine.
Despite the disruption, Kazakhstan's energy ministry assured that oil loadings at the Tengiz oilfield continue unaffected. The incident occurred ahead of talks between U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Saudi Arabia, aimed at addressing ongoing tensions over the Ukraine conflict.
