Centre Pledges Aid for Andhra Pradesh's Red Chilli Farmers

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced that the Centre will support Andhra Pradesh's red chilli farmers financially. This decision follows a request from Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu due to falling prices. The aid will be part of the Market Intervention Scheme, intended to boost exports and assist farmers facing price drops.

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan confirmed on Friday that the central government will extend financial assistance to red chilli farmers in Andhra Pradesh. This decision comes in response to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu's appeal, as farmers face declining prices.

The Ministry of Agriculture plans to activate the Market Intervention Scheme (MIS) to support these farmers. Under the scheme, states have the option to make differential payments to farmers facing a 10% or more drop in crop prices compared to previous seasons.

In addition to aiding farmers financially, the Centre is also exploring ways to enhance the export of red chilli, ensuring that the farmers achieve better market rates for their produce.
