Farmers and the Centre Reignite Negotiations for MSP Guarantee

Farmers and the central government are set to meet for a fresh round of talks focusing on providing a legal guarantee for minimum support price (MSP) on crops. The meeting will take place in Chandigarh, with farmer leaders eager for resolution to their long-standing demands.

An important meeting between protesting farmers and the Centre is scheduled for Saturday evening, with discussions centering around the legal guarantee of a minimum support price for crops.

The talks, held at the Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Public Administration in Chandigarh, follow inconclusive negotiations from February 14, where Union Minister Pralhad Joshi announced Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan would lead the central team.

Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher expressed optimism, saying delegations from the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha are keen on a positive outcome. The talks stem from ongoing protests over the past year, with previous meetings failing to reach a consensus.
