Delay in Rohini Court Defamation Case Against BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj

The Rohini District Court in Delhi postponed the hearing of a civil defamation suit filed by former Delhi Minister Satyender Jain against BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj on Saturday. The delay occurred as the presiding judge, Naina Gupta, was on leave. The case is now set for hearing on July 14, 2025.

Satyender Jain's lawsuit follows claims that Bansuri Swaraj made defamatory statements about him during an October 2023 television interview. The court had previously issued a notice to Swaraj and other respondents, seeking their response while Jain demanded removal of the alleged content and a ban on further statements from Swaraj.

Advocate Karan Sharma filed the defamation suit, which accuses Swaraj of making baseless allegations including corruption and fraud. Jain contends that these remarks harmed his political standing and personal reputation. Despite a related criminal defamation complaint being dismissed, the civil case persists amidst significant public interest.
