Priyanka Gandhi, Congress leader and MP from Wayanad, has pressed Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to address the significant delays in compensating the families of victims affected by human-animal conflicts. Her request comes after receiving numerous petitions from the bereaved families, emphasizing the urgency of the matter.

Gandhi's letter highlighted the gravity of the situation within the Wayanad constituency, where seven people have lost their lives in attacks by wild animals between late December 2024 and February 2025. She remarked on the fear and suffering caused by these incidents and the lack of financial resources to protect the affected regions.

The Congress leader pointed out that while local authorities are exerting efforts to protect both human lives and wildlife, insufficient funds from central and state governments inhibit effective action. She recommended enhanced resources, including thermal drones and physical barriers, to mitigate further risk and committed to raising the issue in Parliament.
