Assam's roadmap for higher education took center stage on Saturday as Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya addressed a key conference in Guwahati. The event, held at the Assam Administrative Staff College, saw participation from Education Minister Ranoj Pegu and numerous university and college leaders.
Governor Acharya, emphasizing the significance of education for societal development, championed the role of higher education as a catalyst for intellectual, scientific, and social progress. He called for frequent review meetings to boost accountability and collaboration, thereby enhancing the educational infrastructure.
Touching on the gap between academia and industry, Acharya advocated for stronger partnerships to improve student employability. The discussion also expanded to topics such as inclusive education, research innovation, governance reforms, and the adoption of digital and transparent platforms like e-SAMARTH. Furthermore, he underscored Assam's advancements in aligning with the National Education Policy 2020, aiming to establish the state as an educational model.
