Bihar's Bold Culling Strategy to Protect Crops

Over 4,279 'Ghodparas' or 'Nilgais' were culled in Bihar to prevent extensive crop damage. Bihar's government has taken decisive action by culling over 4,279 'Ghodparas' in various districts to safeguard crops from destruction, as announced by the state's Environment Minister Sunil Kumar on Monday.

This large-scale culling was initiated after numerous requests from farmers dealing with severe crop damage, despite these animals residing far from forested areas. The highest figures were reported in Vaishali, with Gopalganj and Samastipur following suit.

The initiative, involving trained shooters and compensation for affected farmers, showcases a methodical approach led by village heads, aiming to mitigate agricultural losses caused by these herding animals.
