Delhi Court Orders FIR Against Kejriwal in Public Property Defacement Case

In 2019, a complaint led a Delhi court to instruct local police to register an FIR against Arvind Kejriwal and others over public property defacement in Dwarka. Despite previous dismissals, the court now demands a compliance report, emphasizing further investigation is needed to uncover any potential offenses.

On Tuesday, the Rouse Avenue court instructed Delhi police to file a First Information Report (FIR) against Arvind Kejriwal and others regarding a 2019 incident of public property defacement in Dwarka. The directive followed a complaint by Shiv Kumar Saksena.

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Neha Mittal approved the complaint, instructing the authorities to submit a compliance report by March 18. The court opined that the application under section 156(3) of the Criminal Procedure Code warranted approval.

The court's decision was based on accusations of misuse of public funds on hoardings featuring political figures like Kejriwal. However, a police status report from 2022 found no such hoardings, leading to previous case dismissals. The Rouse Avenue court has now revived the case for further inquiry.
