Uttarakhand's Crackdown on Illegal Madrasas Intensifies

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has intensified efforts to close illegal madrasas in the state. Over 52 have been sealed within 15 days. In a decisive move to curb illegal religious establishments, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has ordered the sealing of more than 52 unauthorized madrasas across the state within just 15 days. This decisive action underscores the government's resolve to maintain law and order in the region.

On Monday, in a continuation of these efforts, 12 illegal madrasas were shut down in Vikasnagar, Dehradun, and another nine in Khatima. Previously, 31 such institutions had faced similar actions in various districts, according to a release from the Uttarakhand Chief Minister's Office.

The government alleges these institutions had been contributing to a population imbalance under the guise of religious activities. Chief Minister Dhami's administration has made it clear that any attempt to alter the state's demographic structure will be met with severe repercussions, signaling a committed stance against lawbreakers.
