The Punjab Police's campaign, 'Yudh Nashian Virudh', spearheaded by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has shown formidable progress in combatting drug abuse in the state. On Wednesday, intensive raids across 543 locations led to the arrest of 118 drug smugglers, pushing the total count to 1658 in just 12 days.

Under the direction of Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav, all 28 Police districts saw action, with over 250 teams comprising 1600 officers involved. Efforts have also included the confiscation of substantial quantities of narcotics and drug money, amidst a comprehensive three-month deadline to make Punjab drug-free, as ordered by CM Mann.

A strategic approach, integrating Enforcement, Deaddiction, and Prevention, guides their operations. Specialized efforts have resulted in 19 individuals seeking rehabilitation, and 154 awareness events have been conducted. Meanwhile, pharmaceutical shops across several districts are scrutinized to ensure compliance with drug sale regulations.
